Wow. This thing is O-L-D! Last post was 2008? Crazy. I guess that is understandable since I began the blog back in ought four to keep family and friends up-to-date with my life and activities when Gary and I first moved out to Washington. Mostly I just wanted to show off the cool places we went and make a case for family and friends to visit or to take a leap and move out there with us.
Then we got cold feet and made a feverish dash back to the safety (?) of the east coast. I have never regretted a decision more in my whole life. Don't get me wrong - I had lots of wonderful experiences back east, met lots of great people and, most important of all, my son was born there but it was not where I was meant to be. I was unhappy about it from hour one and even as I made the best of it.
In the fall of 2011 that all changed. Through the help of friends and family - especially the dear friends who hosted us in their house in Redmond for 4.5 months - we made it back out to the west coast and are now happily ensconced in Olympia. This was a huge leap of faith or trust or stupidity - call it what you will - but it worked. Gary found a job, I found an apartment and we both feel like our lives (including Nate's) are back on track.
So I decided to start this blog up to once again share our adventures. I want to give friends and family an idea of what it looks like out here and what there is to do. And, lastly, I want to tempt people to visit and, maybe, even move out with us. You know who you are.
